The 2021 short film <아싸 (ASSA)>, directed by Alekh Chapman, follows Jin, a hopeful artist who returns to Korea and grapples with fitting into the rhythmic pace of life in Incheon. Her encounter with an enigmatic shopkeeper presents an opportunity for Jin to take a step forward in finding her voice.

As a set artist, my responsibility was to create a drawings that will be shown as a drawing of the main protagonist Jin. This role offered a unique and entertaining experience as it demanded a deep understanding of the protagonist's emotions, allowing me to translate them into visual form.

The first drawing portrays the main character's sense of detachment from Korean society while growing up as a Korean American. Although her surroundings exude warmth, the main character is depicted in cool, distant colors, creating a separation from the background.

The second drawing captures the main character's integration into Korean society as she regains confidence as an artist and establishes meaningful human connections. This transformation is reflected in her gradual embrace of warmth, symbolizing a newfound sense of inner warmth.
